ok with the black wire unhooked from the cdi it seems to start everytime so far, what does this mean??? it was replaced back when the stater was so never thought of it, it was replaced with an aftermarket one that is supposed to let you have higher rev limit.

you wont beleive it!!!!! it has spark when trying with the button so i went ahead and put a new spark plug in it cause i figured what the heck thats the only thing not replaced on it and there we go she fires right up everytime!!!!!!!!only thing i can think of is that the old plug was not conducting enough to spark hot enough. thanks everyone for your help!!!!!!

well befor all of this started the carb was flooding out really bad, the float needle was stuck open and when i fixed that then it wouldnt start by the key so only thing i can think of is that the old plug had been flooded to many times and burned out with the ole lighter lol

This may be a long shot but I have seen it before. If the flywheel magnets are broken or partially broken it can do exactly what you stated. I'm surprised you had to have the stator and cdi replaced at the same time. That's rare, very rare. Does your speedo lose voltage and not work at the same time?
