Hawkeye engine heat
My 06 Hawkeye seems to get very warm when idling slow around the yard, stopping to cut a tree limb, etc. Question: will installing the factory oil cooler help much? Since it relys on airflow to cool the oil as well, I am unsure if it would be worth the money. FYI: I am in the Texas hill country and my yard is far from flat; and I run Amsoil, which should help.
Thanks for any help.

Hawkeye engine heat
Air cooled single cylinder 4 stroke engines usually run hot. I installed the auxillery oil cooler on my 2006 Hawkeye to help overcome this. We do a lot of slow speed breaking new trail and the engine can heat up. Also, cooler oil has to give better oil life and performance. The cooler also adds to the oil volume which is a good thing. The engine definately runs cooler with the auxillery cooler and I think it was well worth the money. It is relatively easy to install. As previously pointed out in this forum, it is in a location where a stick can go between the frame rails and damage the cooler. I have Polaris' full length plastic skid guard which protects against this happening. It wouldn't be that hard to add a fan but I haven't done so yet. I have about 6 months running on mine.
