Default Dead battery Charging Problem

Need some advice on a charging problem with a 2000 Scrambler 400. Installed a new battery and after a few hours of riding the battery goes dead. Checked all the connection coming out of the engine to the regulator. Is it common for regulators to go bad or the armature?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Tom

did you check to see how many volts is coming to the battery when its running? should be 13 or better. the recifier is probably gone bad if its not putting out. maybe someone who has a manual can tell you if theres a way to test it.

voltage is close to 14 volts running. The battery goes dead after riding on the trail for awhile. My thoughts are it could be a bad ground. Does anyone know where some grounds might be that I should check. I can't seem to find ground locations in the Workshop manual.

Thanks
Tom
