Default Technical and How To articles

I really like the section in the forums called "Technical and How To Articles" but wouldn't it be nice to have a section like that in each of the manufacturers forums? One inside of the Polaris forums, Honda, Suzuki, etc. I know that if you read enough, you can find an article on how to fix damn near everything after doing a good search .(I personally have saved thousands of $ fixing things myself and know that it was done right!)but if there was a How To section within each manufactuers' forum, it would be much easier to find instructions (step by step) on fixing problems. Not sure who I maybe should have suggested this to as after all, it's just my two cents anyway so I just posted it here. Any comments?

I started reading these forums back in 02 to find out info on a trail boss I was rebuilding. I found tons of info and worked my way into a very fast 2 stroke. I would be a little easier to find if it were according to manufacturer, but I never look in the "t&hta" part anyway.

Yea I agree it always comes down to personal own searches and man there is alot
to weed thru. But the overall infrastucture of this forum is Title based Vs. Category.
If there was a sub-section to check what type of post it was, then going thru all this
data would be much more simplified and I could see "creating" a function or special area
under all the MFG would be really beneficial. Like if you look for clutches and upgrades you
will get TrailBoss, Scrammy, Traiblazer, Sportsman etc etc., and we need a way to do
Boolean searches for better granulariti, IMHO.

Cheers,

R'

Sorry, surely wasn't trying to create any problems for the forum or moderators. And your right. The forum is awesome and I certainly didn't mean it in a bashing way. just a brain fart i guess. like I said before, these forums have saved me a ton of $ and instilled a lot of pride in me knowing that I did and do most of the mods and fixes on my quads myself and get most of the info to do the jobs right from the members here. Hats off gals and guys!

hey blaster, no problems w/ your post. theres no bashing there whats so ever. just kinda of making a joke that they just revamped the whole forum and still was working bugs out. the moderators are good guys and take a pretty good attuiude towards our suggestions and comments so you feel free to make (a good one too) them comments. didnt mean to make you think i was bashing you. keep up the good posting. How about a sticky at the top of each forum. The moderators could choose the posts that go there. I think it would be great. I love reading these forums but when I search for a repair issue it does get a little frustrating ( some of the posts start out good then turn into bashing sessions)

Yeah when i do a search to find a particular "how to" article, it does or can be a little overwhelming. But on the other hand, I was doing a search the other night AFTER I made this post so that I could get some info on how to fix the water pump/seals on my Scram and in the process I ran across an article that explained how to fix my 2004 400 sportman (ignition wiring issue that the dealer couldn't find) so if I hadn't had to sift through all the posts that poped up when I searched for "scram 400 waterpump" then I never would have founpd the fix for my sportsman. Go figure. I guess in a good way it (forum) has it's advantages set up the way it is now and as I said I certainly wasn't try to cause any confusion. I guess my biggest problem when I get on these forums is that I'll do a search for something in particular and I end up doing the same thing I do when I get on the web. I start off searching for one thing and 2 hours later I find myself forgetting exactly what the hell I originally was looking for. lol In a good way though. I probably learn more that way than any other way. I can't tell you alone how much the fix for that sportsman is going to save me in batteries alone and now I can hok my wench back up too. Thanks for the help everyone (don't remember who posted the fix).
