Default 06 SP 500 EFI charging problem

Can someone please tell me where to start? My 06 SP500 EFI is not charging correctly so I think. With the quad off the battery tests at 11.2 volts with it running at half throttle it jups up to almost 13 volts. Does that mean that it is charging correctly and that the battery is just not taking it? Or that the battery is too low and the bike is not pruducing enough juice to both run and charge the battery?

I have read that the rectifier should be tested. I am a dummy when it comes to electrical stuff so what to test on that. As far as the stator goes what and where do I test it? Pics would be AWESOME as visuals are great.

i know some people have had problems w/ the modual in the front under the plastic area as it controlls alot of differnt things. when running it will produce 13 to14ish volts. not too sure why your battery is only showing that low unless maybe theres a short some where draining the battery, or maybe theres a dead cell in it.

Could multiple uses of my winch have caused my battery to drain down the point of no return? Like so low that the stator couldn't charge it back up? I know that we put a new battery on (filled it with the juice and activated it for about 30 minutes) then rode for about a total of 6 hours and several starts. Most of this time with the battery light flashing. Then click click no more starts. A little bit on the charger and it will start. I did unhook the winch when we put the new battery in. So that is not it. I checked the connections on the starter while the quad was running and didn't get any reading there so I think I can count the starter dragging power out.

When the engine is revved up the voltage goes up from 11.2 to 12.8 which tells me that the stator is working? I am completely dumb when it comes to electricity.

Thanks for any help.

If I unhook the pos battery cable from the quad while it is running and it dies does that mean that the stator is dead as it is not sending power to the CDI or does the battery have to be in the circuit to make the quad run?
