Does anyone know where to get crank and connecting rod specs? My service manual does not have it, the dealer of all places does not have it.They tell me that they just replace a crank if it is bad.Immagine that.Ihave looked everywhere that I can think of,called everyone that I can think of. I am stuck. Can someone please help?

the polaris manual it self doesnt have it? i cant beleave that a dealer wouldnt have it, otherwise how would they know its out of specs. did you try another dealer? i dont know of any other place then the ones you've tried other then getting in touch w/ polaris directly. just a thought, maybe rcr racing"rick ritter" might be able to help you out. good luck.

Thats a tricky deal on a 325 . I don't know if I would trust the Polaris specs either . The first 325's were rod tossers . Polaris got it right later but some ot the first ones were not right . Let me dig around a bit .

PS I don't like to doubt factory specs , but from experiences with what the book says - and what a new part mikes - sometimes it doesn't jive .

You are the first person that even knew anything about the 325.Any info you can dig up would be greatly appreciated. The crank and rod have been at the shop for a month and a half. When the machinest told me heneeded specs on the crank and rod, I thought no big deal.Boy was I wrong.I have struck out every route that I have taken.Man, I would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks, Ron

As I suspected the 330 and 325 share the same rod shells .
Here are #'s and descriptions:

3086427 BEARING,STANDARD

3086798 BEARING,0.05 O/S <---METRIC

3086799 BEARING,0.25 O/S <---METRIC

Here is where it gets stupid :

clear .0007" - .0021" limit .0026 (for 325 and 330)

1.6531" - 1.6535" journal OD std 330

1.6556" - 1.6560" journal OD std 325

DIFFERENT NUMBERS USING SAME ROD SHELLS !!!!!! BS!! BS!!

Early 325's had some rod problems . The 330's are just fine . I don't trust the manual , I have been bit before trying to do jobs correctly only to find the factory specifications can't be trusted .

My suggestion is to show this to your machinist , he is familiar with crank turning and clearances on other type engines and can take a good estimate on what is common to see on an engine of this size that can spin close to 6000 RPM's . I do believe many 325's were too tight from the factory , that being your guide - grind the crank accordingly . I wish you the best of results , I know it is frustrating have to second guess written material .

I took to machinest, he interpreted the note as being crank journal, that is great, but he says tht the bearing spun in the rod, and need rod housing bore size. Did he interpret it right?,and can you get the housing bore? Thanks Ron

I don't know the rod bore, but the rod to crank clearance is std. .0007-.0021( .019-.053 mm). may your mechanic can go from this.
