The other night I broke the front axle on the right side on my '05 SP 700 and now I have th front gearcase apart but how in the he!! do you get the axle out of the output hub. Any help would be great and pics would be even better.

 

Hey I am in the same boat. I just need to replace the boot. I am getting ready to go out and give it another try. If I figure it out I will let you know.

 

ok I just got it. the ball joint that connects the strut mounting to the a-arm has a nut and cotter pin at the bottom, take those off. Then grab a hammer and hit the a- arms until it falls off the strut. Then you can get it out.

 

I have the axle out of the strut now i need to know how to get it out fo the gearcase. I have the gearcase apart but i cant get the axle out.

 

I just had my frnt diff out for a roll cage issue - the shaft will come out of the front diff w/o taking the housing apart. I used a large screwdriver and carefully applied some "english" between the diff housing and the inner boot area. There is a circlip type fastener on the end of the shaft that will self-compress and it should pop out.

 

I did more research and thats what i found out now , after i took my diff apart. My computer has been down at home so i had to come to work to screw off and find out what im doing. Ill go home and try to get it all back together. Thanks
