Anyone ride Outlaw 525s?
Ok here is the BEST way to translate a 525 Outlaw quad as a prior dirt bike rider.... It is a dirt bike with Four wheels! that rips!!! I have had friends ride my 525 who have KTM dirt bikes and the first thing they tell me is that it is a dirt bike/quad!!! SO imagine riding wheelies in any gear having over 12 inches of ground clearance with a independent rear suspension that rides like a Cadillac and drives like a Audi A8 quatro
As far as the dirt bikes, I get passed on the jump and whoop sections then roost them on the turns so it is a back and forth battle on the track and if you can jump a 400lb quad over a double chasing dirt bikes you have one on me!

Generally you loose between 20-30% in the drivetrain when you do a chassis dyno. That article even says they dynoed it on knobbies which can give you even lower #s. So 55 X .70 = 38.5HP (30% loss)

I don't know about 55 hp....maybe if it was tuned right.
The California Air Resources Board states it at 37kw(49.59 hp)
Carb link
(Besides they are talking about Hp at the wheel, the numbers they claim from factory are engine Hp.)
I don't want to get into a argument over this, but your referencing a Honda web site about Polaris power output....maybe not the best source to use.

I see in 08 all that is availible is the 525 IRS, 525 S (swingarm rear suspension), and the 450 (swingarm rear). Looks like the 500 is going away totally. Which does not surprise me. I am looking hard at the 525 S. I am not sure about the IRS just yet for me. The 525 S should move with 20lbs lighter than the 525 IRS. And also the 450 is a KTM driven 450, and 10 lbs lighter than the 525S.

I refrenced the Honda site because the guy that did the testing is well respected as a tuner. 39.11 rwhp isn't bad. But it could be a whole lot better. Stock Suzuki 450's are making 38 rwhp. But for only 39 bucks, you can add a Cherry bomb and add 9 hp. Also, I seem to remember an account of a z400 that is putting out 40, on a stock bore, at 398cc's. That's a big difference from 510cc's.
Not going to get into a shouting match about one brand being better than another. That get's proven on the sand.
