Default diagnostic mode

on my '03 sp 700 when I go into diagnostic mode it only displays 3 different screens. it this right? screens are, voltage, what looks like oil pressure and tach. I've read where others have more than 3 on theirs. also, on the second screen it looks like it says oil pressure. when I start it up in the diagnostic mode, the voltage display goes up as normal and the tach screen works but the oil pressure one does nothing. is it suppose to? am I missing something? I figured it would at least display oil pressure.

when u start quad diagnastic mode should go away. theres no oil pressure reading. if u have 4x4 it should give u switch yes or no , an hour glass for maintence intervials, MPH or KM choice.

Kind of an aside but I would sure like an oil pressure guage on an atv with the shenanigans I went thru last week with oil.

mine doesn't have that. mine is a 4x4 but it doesn't have a yes or no or a mph/km choice(not a digital speedo). i checked it out and the wrench and oil icon comes up and it says pr55er which i would assume the 5's are s's.

Default diagnostic mode

Found it in another thread, Embler, check it out.........

It's in my owner's manual, 2003 600/700 Sportsman. "Diagnostic Mode" It's to check oil pressure, set idle (tach mode), and check voltage.

Here's what the book says:

"The diagnostic mode is for informational purposes only. Please return your ATV to your dealer for all major repairs.

To enter the diagnostics mode:

1. Turn the key switch off and wait 20 seconds.
2. Set the park brake and shift the transmission the neutral.
3. Hold the mode/reverse override button and turn the key switch on.

The initial screen displayed looks sinilar to the top illustration and refers to the software version installed in your ATV. This information is displayed breifly.

Use the mode/reverse override button to toggle through the diagnostics screens. The first screen displays battery voltage.

The second screen provides full diagnostics for the entire oil pressure electrical circuit. Along with the letters PrSSr, there will be a box on the left side. If the box is high, the pressure is normal. If the box is low, the pressure is low.
Screen three is the tachometer for setting idle speed. If this needs adjustment, please contact your dealer.

As long as the center is in the diagnostic mode, the wrench icon will reain lit.

To leave the diagnostic mode, either shift the machine out of neutral or turn the key switch off and on. NOTE: Any movement of the tires will also take the machine out of the diagnostic mode."
