Default 2006 Hawkeye 2x4 Rear lower A Frame Failure

Hi Koiak,
The problem I have has not been a recall. I have found others with 2006 and 2007 have similar problems.
Some say the new replacement part is stronger but until I see it finished I don't know. Also the 2006 and 2007 subframe part numbers are different. Hopefully that means something.

I would just inspect the rear mounts closely to see if any cracks have started. They start at the top of the foward lower A Frame mount in the subframe.

Hope this helps
Iggy

Thank's Iggy, I will check it out today. I just got my wife talked into buying a quad and riding with me and I don't want a bad experiance such as a broken bike and crash to ruin it for her.

The 07 subframe is stronger and the 06 part # does sub to that. If its not to far out of warranty Polaris should cover at least parts. A recall would be nice.

Hello all you Hawkeye drivers

got my subframe done yesterday I ordered the 2006 international version (because thats the atv i have) and the frame Polaris send was a reinforced version of the Old frame with some modifications like extra metal bridges and an extra layer of metal welded over the old one in several area's much stiffer as the old version I got a good feeling about it.
funny that Polaris themselfs discovered that the origanal part was to week or could this be a result of us complaining to them and or talking about it on the forum???

I think this problem is becoming a big pain for Polaris as I have found many with the subframe failure. Some of the early folks paid for the repairs but lately like mine is being repaird by Polaris on their $. I get mine back next week and I will inspect the part and hope the updated subframe will be installed.

After hearing about so many folks with the rear subraframe failure I decided to contact the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and fill out the on-line form. I feel that this is a major safety issue and we need to let them know about it.
If you had or have this rear subframe failure that holds your rear A-frame I hope you will fill out the form.

Here is the link to the form.

Thanks
