My 600 twin was fine for 589miles. Tonight after a 7-8 mile ride I parked at my hunting spot to scout and after sitting for 45 minutes the thing felt like it has a flat, but didn't. It is pulling near vioently to the left or right like one wheel is locked in and out of awd. Any suggestions? It is a 2005 and hes very easy miles on it.

flat tire, toe in/out, bad bearings/cv joint starting to lock up. shouldnt be one wheel from the awd since that was the older style hubs. jack it up to free spin the front wheels one at a time to test for drag.

I know you said that you didn't have a flat, but my 800 pulls quite a bit if the rear wheels are not close in air pressure. I would check the air pressure in all of my tires first and then check everything else. I had a small leak in my right rear tire and I could tell when it was going down cuz the bike would pull progressively worse. When looking at the tire, 27" mudlite xtr on 14" itp ss 108, it was hard to tell it was low. I think it's because the 14" wheels have a smaller side wall that doesn't bulge out as much when pressure is low. Good luck.

I jacked it up and both wheels rolled free. I let it down and it has been working fine since. II am baffled is there an impending problem that I can avoid? with some PM or something?

I have had a similar problem over the years with a 96 Sportsman 500. After awhile I noticed it seem to do it after backing for a distance. By the time I would get it back to my shop it would fix itself. To this day I don't know what causes it. If it happens with the new 07 I will definitely get it figured out.

My Sportsman 500 does that sometimes, and it seems to me like the 4 wheel drive is sticking on one side. I engage and disengage the 4 wheel and it goes away. I know what you mean, it is a VIOLENT pull to one side when trying to take off.

Sounds like the 4wd is stuck. Had it happen on a few rides, different machines from others sportsmans, magnum and my explorer, it's always been taken care of by going in reverse. If it still sticks put it back in 4wd, back to 2wd, reverse. In my experiences it's been a pretty common occurance. I should add...mine did it quite a few times last fall, changed the fluid in the hubs, hasn't happened since.
