basically i just want to be able to switch on lights when i want to back up, not necc. automatically, by putting the quad into reverse, i would actually prefer to have to manually switch them on!@
thanks again for the all the help thus far!!</end quote></div>
here is a post that might be helpful in the switch/bulb replacement. the bulb is a 13 watt flat end w/ contacks on each side if you need to find them there about 7.00 a piece thru polaris and around 2.00/pair from the auto parts store.

along the same line here. what wire indicates the reverse in gauge pod? I tapped wires coming out of trans but none show power output. so some wire has to show power when trans is in reverse to indicate on pod display. i dont wanna strip every wire till i find it lots of tape needed then so if anyone knows. thanks

dont know if this will work for ya, but i was bored to so i looked at the wire daig. and i think the brown/red wire in the speedo(maybe number 13 pin) is the wire that feeds or is back feed to the the speedo from the trans switch. shot in the dark.

The wire coming from the trans does not provide power to the Reverse indicator on the pod display. It works by grounding the terminal in the display. That's why it's not a simple process to make backup lights and you need to wire up a DC relay. Without the Polaris wiring diagram you might better get the kit from Quadovator.
