Are the '95 SCR4004X4's very reliable? I was just wondering because they have the chain driven front end. Are the chain driven fronts very tough? Do the '95's have electric start?

Blazer I have a 95' scr.4oo never had a problem with the front chains, only adjusted the front chains 3 times in 5 yrs. as for the rear chain it is still OEM. Yes it has electric start with pull cord back up. In 5yrs of owning the quad the only thing i had to do was rebuild the starter motor and replace one front cv shaft

Stay away from the '95's the triple chain system is a B*TCH you can never get it tensioned right.

Scramdaddy~
I've never had to adjust the front chain on my 96 scrambler. I would stay away from the 95's though...it was the first year of production for the scrambler and they did have some problems. I know my 96 has had some problems also. Later in the 96' model year, Polaris changed the Piston design on the 400 scramblers. I do not know of many specific problems with the 95's, but I have not heard a whole lot of good with them either.

I had, and stress had, a '95 and it was a piece of crap. I got it right off the showroom floor,
all shiny and new. It was fast and good-looking
but right off the bat it starting messing up. At top speed it would just die and gas would run out of all those vent tubes. Starter broke twice, headlight bulbs would jump out and roll around in
globes, the seat latch broke, the pull rope was a joke. The taillight would pop off the rear fender. It just snaps there. It's embarrassing to have someone tell you "Hey, your tailight's dragging." You fix it them ride off and have the same pereson say "I told you your taillight is dragging!" And have to get off and fix it again! The belt slipped and I had to manually choke it in cold weather with my hand over the carb intake boot. Try to start it in very cold weather, forget about it. Not a good four-wheeler, it broke me from having anything other than Japanese atvs. I had all that trouble in the same 6 months! Incidentally they(the bank)got it back after the motor detonated on me while idling in my brother-in-laws yard.
