no problem on letting them keep the bike since its coming in until around march anyways lol. ive worked on paper w/ them (over the phone anyways) on the o.t.p so next april when most of all the snows gone we'll go buy it and still have the "big" 6 month warranty to cover it thru the riding season. that way my money will draw intrest. also since its already in the low 30's here in the mornings and the wife doesnt ride inthe cold, theres no lost either lol[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

First off- Stendori- the seat just pulls off. There isn't a latch. It's like the screen radiator gaurd on sportsmans. Rubber grommets, and pins.

I just set one up finally. The battery is a royal pain in the butt to install. My opinion, buy a maintainer and use it. You don't want to be replacing the battery any more than you have to. It also has the maintainer leads already hooked up(to the solenoid I assume, since there weren't any cable ends to put on the battery other than the pos and ground cable)The connector end is inside the front cargo box.

Edit - I just stuck the battery in the second machine(first one always takes longer) I took right at 15 minutes to install. The machine was on the stand too. I would think this job would really suck trying to do it on the floor.

It runs pretty well. I got 49 mph out of it on our lot before I had to stop(it didn't have a lot left either)

It felt a little narrow to me like it may roll easier(it isn't as wide as the bigger sportsmans of course) Just something to get used to if you rode bigger machines.

They moved the oil drain to the bottom of the crankcase and it will be easier to get to than the 400,500, and 450's.

The water pump weep hole now has a fitting and a hose on it.

The front gearcase fill plug is easy to get to. The rear isnt bad, isnt great either.

Not a bad little unit. I would like to try one out in the hills(not that I ever will, but would like to) I just figured I'd write a few things that stood out to me. We have a flat lot out here so as far as ride, suspension I can't give much info.

Edit- In reverse without the override pushed, when it goes into limit mode it acts kinda like a bucking horse going backward. Not a big deal, but thought I'd mention it.

Stupid question here, but is the new 400 a EFI or carb?

thanks harley for the info. mhen they get their ugly green one in their going to call me so we can go test ride it to see if sees going to like it. since it has the same engine(455 cc) as the 450 had i assume it would do close to the the same speed unless its really geared down(which by the sounds it is) which we got around 55 mph or hers( i think). i was wondering what those cord ends where in the front. i gues i'll just do the same to that as my 800 and charge the battery up real good(w/ charger) before i put them away and theres no power down there to hook a tender up. i was worried about the stiff suspenion in the bac( no give when she sets on it) if it would ride like bucking bronco or not. rtickwad, i beleave its the same set up(engine and carb) as your 450 is w/ differnt clutching and gearing maybe.

It only bucks in reverse as the limiter limits the spark. No big deal, just something I noticed. It didn't ride buck in forward.

no, i ment it bucking form having too stiff of suspension from stiff spring/shock. i was looking at the sway bar set up and thinking of what would happen if i took it off. lol. dont even have it yet and already changing stuff. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Off course this is coming from the man (Stendori) that as new was his 08' 800 he
cut up his POD to install that ?? What was it your temp gauge or reverse override
switch? Heck I haven't even put all my stuff back on my bike!

Ive taken the sway bar off and rode it, rides real smooth and it will eliminate most of that bucking while in reverse, Bu while in reverse on the hawkeye in loose sand it will bang up and down so violently that it will break a cv joint or shaft because of the stiff suspension, For mudding and general riding its works great , but the first donut you do without the sway bar your gonna regret it cause shes gonna high side you right off
