I lost my backup key while in the woods for the opening of deer season last Saturday. Does anyone know where I can find a blank key and the rubber housing, other than going to a dealer? I went to the local dealer and they tried to tell me the "blank" key (to which I would also have to pay someone else to cut the key because they do not dot it) would cost me$10-$12! The little rubber cover would be another $15. I figure a key should not cost $25+! Any help would be appreciated. My Polaris is an '03 Sporstman Twin.

 

I just went to any key making place, I did not get the rubber cover but they can make 5 keys for $12.

 

At least it wasn't a can am key - about $40. Worse than that, they only give you one of them with the purchase!

 

Those prices you got from your dealer are crazy! I've gotten key blanks a couple times at my dealer and they were only about $7 each. I got a rubber key cover for about $5 or so. Once, when I went in, they didn't have any Polaris left. They sold me a Kawasaki cover for about $5. Worked fine. I would try a different dealership. Parts They have the key for $6.81 and the cover for $7.63.

 

When I bought extra keys for mine it was 7 dollars for the key blank also. The rubber cover I didn't get as I just wanted it for backup to make extras on if I ever lost the original.
