I would go for the 250 myself, and I'm smaller than you, so go for the 250 and just get used to it.

Definetly the 125. The 250 is way too big(although it doesn't seem so) for a novice. Get the 125, get used to it, then get the bigger bike if you think you need it, or mod up the 125. My older friend who raced bikes when he was my age always said its not "if" you get hurt, but "when" on a bike.

In my opinion, you are big enough size-wise for the 250, but maybe not experience wise. If you trust yourself to not peg the throttle until you are sure you can handle it, I would go with the 250. It will have more power thru the sand. However, when you describe most running around in 3rd gear or less, the 125 should be more than adequate, and its improved maneuverability will be a great help learning the basics. Those things put out a surprising amount of power set up right.

thanks for your reply,,,,,like i said,,i guess ill just have to see who still has what.....

i know the power the 250 is capable of(i mean i knw it could have alot) and im not oging to pin it the first time,,more so of putting around the first ride....and after a week or so i think ill be use to it and maybe see more of what its capable of doing little by little......

I would go with the 125. My son is 15 and he rides a 125 and it has plenty of power. He jumps it over 40 feet with no problem. Since you haven't ridden anything over an 80 I would think jumping right to a 250 would be a big difference. I think you would appreciate having a lighter bike and trust me the 125 has more than enough power for trail riding.
