Does anyone know if you can adapt older Warn winches to use the wireless remote like the new models

Yes. The older winch doesn't care wheather it's a regular contactor, or a wireless contactor that is suppling the electricity to it. Short answer....yes any winch will work with any type of contactor......regular, wired remote, or wireless remote.

So far I have found it works with any Warn Powersport winch with contactor and mini rocker switch, I haven't found a price yet but I did e-mail Warn

How come there are all these warnings (no pun) about
NOT using the remotes with their winches that were not
intended or made with? Has anyone exp. any accidents
or malfunctions of usuage if ya bought an remote setup
kit to operate with your standard/"non-remote" winch?

Just asking, cuz I would luv to have a remote operated switch
for mine as well. A couple times in a mud hole, had to bail on
the quad to get the extra weight off to pull it out. Kinda of hard
when you have to STAND in the MUD and water next to it
operating the rocket switch. Can you run the remote wireless
with the rocket switches too? I would like to have both for my
applications. Heck, I would like to even have a rear installed
winch after all we went thru with my cousins' situation on our
last ATV outing, when he got his SP 800 stuck REAL good and had
to pull him from the rear. If he had that setup it would of been
nice. I ended up snapping my tow strap trying to pull him out too.
He was burried in his rear over the tire barracading his wheel well
to his foot well, it just couldn't get it out, to hard pack mud to push or
pull (front or reverse).

Regards,

R'

Well I just ordered a Warn XT 3.0 for the front and it comes with the wireless remote. My old 3.0 with the corded remote will go to the back. I also have a MV winch switch sitting on my toolbox. So when I'm all finished I will have the mini rocker, a corded remote as well as a wireless remote to control the front and rear winch. If it all works as planned I will be able to control either winch any way I want. And then with a flip of the MV switch control the other winch how I want. I'll put up lots of pictures whenever I get it all together.
