Happy Hunter's thread
#22
I'm sorry Stendor, brother thats gotta hurt! You always hear the stories when us Happy Hunters
go out for our long day hunt and come up short only with the "I missed it by that much" stories and how
I couldn't get the safety off in time only to run into a deer roadside after a long day.
And yea, it always seems its at night! Man, that sorta thing just burns my britches!

I know where ya are coming from is why I just left my hunting club among many other reasons.
Let say, too many double standards, the old timers ask us to help pull theirs out but we can't
use our ATV's. Bunch of garbage and this is on private land with self made rules, Ho humm
Hope to hunt my in-laws property this season, no one to bother me!

Rtickwad......
Hey I'm all for using the machines for getting the deer out of the woods but there's nothing worse than hearing them buzzing through the woods in the middle of a hunt......My opinion is if you shoot something late and it's just about dark, then have at it with the quads but in the mornings or afternoon I'd leave the machine home just in respect for the other hunters in the area......Just my 2 cents.....

my inlaws own land but i refuse to hunt there family polotics if you no what i mean i have exclusive rights to 72 acres close to home but im heading to public just because its the guys i have been hunting with a long time so its tradition.
dragged that 6 pointer in my pics about a 1/2 mile on oct 12 by myself the land i hunt is 45 min from my house i shot it at 5 pm tried calling some buddys to stop and get my quad to pull it out no one was around so i was so jacked up i just dragged him out thought i was gonna die after that.
he wasnt the biggest i shot but it was a great hunt on new land with my 12 year old in a back to back tree stand set up he couldnt get a shot so i took it knowing we had to tags to fill he never got a shot this year but he was sure exited with that hunt. next year im holding out for a big one.
good luck again

This year's hunt for our group of 4 was successful as everyone filled their tags. Nothing in the monster class was taken with the exception of a nice 7x9 bull which rough scored 344. Good bull, but there were 2 others spotted that were better. My 28" 3x3 was the widest buck, but there were 3 nice 24-26 inch 4 pointers taken also. One 4 pointer had a broken horn and was misjudged thinking it was a cheater hanging down. My cousin located one buck that was right at the magic 30 inch number but them old boys are very smart and he disappeared. Had lots of fun and put the new quad to good use. We used it to winch and drag the bull up to where we could get to it with a truck. Did not have a camera along most of the time but did get a few pictures so check them out.
The general season here in Idaho is closed but the late hunts are just beginning in many units and I guess you whitetail hunters in the east are just beginning also ,well good luck to all of you be safe and enjoy that good tasting venison and elk.
