high or low range
hey all, i have 05 700 twin carb sportsman,
i usually ride around our woods in low range doing about maybe 10-15mph, and i always use low when in AWD.
my question is, on trails that aren't really rough say 10-20mph is it ok to use high range? and is it ok to use high range when in AWD?
thanks for the info.

It's okay to use H with AWD. What range to use is not really an issue of 2X4 or AWD, just speed. H should be your primary range unless travelling slow longer than a moment here and there, or when at slower speeds with a heavier load. Like when towing, or plowing, or going up steep hills, or when starting up on a steep hill, etc. Good luck.

thats not good going around in low all the time, you can put it in awd any time, any place, moving at 50 mph or parked, the only time you don't want to put it in awd is when the rear wheels are spinning, you have to let off the gas first and then put it in awd,the awd doesn't work until the rear wheels slip then the front kicks in and stays in until the rear wheels regain traction,it then goes back into 2wd.............the beauty of polaris .

if you rear your manual it will say use low if your going under say 7 to 9 mph. if your doing 10 or more use high. if your crawling thru rocks/mud using low is fine in awd but i would keep it in high when normal driving even in awd. caper's right save the gas and the wear on the engine froming being high rpm's
