polaris wont pull start half the time
I have an 01 polaris scrambler 500 which pretty much never starts via electric and never has, which is fine. Now it the pull sart is acting real funny sometimes it is fine but other times you will pull hard and barely an inch of the cord comes out before it stops short resulting in big tiem pain and you never know so you gotta pul hard everytime. I have heard there is a compression screw i have to turn but where the eff is it? my hands hurt somebody letme know what to do!!!

I HAVE A 02 SCRAMBLER 500 4X4 AND YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT A GOOD HARD PULL. IF THE TIMING IS SET TO PEEK PERFORMANCE IT WILL TRY TO PULL THE ROPE OUT OF YOUR HAND DEPENDING ON THE REVOLUTION THE ENGINE STOPPED AT. MY ELECTRIC START QUIT WORKING ALSO--FIXED IT BY CLEANING TRIGGER COIL AND FILING TRIGGER COIL MOUNTING HOLES SO
YOU CAN MOVE TRIGGER COIL CLOSER TO THE FLYWHEEL, WORKED FOR ME!!
LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT

My '07 Scrambler owners manual said something like this (sorry I'm too lazy to pull it out, so I'll try my memory)......
It's every other pull type of thing. The first pull, you pull it until it gets real tight, then you release right away. Then the 2nd pull you pull it to start it (ie...probably pull hard and fast). Don't hurt yourself man, you need to keep your body in good condition for riding. :-)
On the electric start, you might want to look into a solenoid and/or a battery. I replaced my solenoid on my 95 and it was real easy to do and the part is pretty cheap.
