Another newbie question....
#1
I have new (less than 5mi. on 'em) tires on the front of my 97 Xplorer 400 but the rears look like the factory tires and are lacking to say the least. I want tires that will last, and will grip. Longevity is more important than mud bogging for my application. I love the look of the SureGrip Mud Bitch and the TSL Vampire, but I know I don't need a tire that is that purpose specific (Unless they have a good tread life, in which case I'd love them). Lets say, six or seven inches of mud maximum, same for snow in my area, periodic trips down the gravel road I live on (state maintained hard pack dirt, gravel covered) lots of trail in the woods on my farm, and a good deal of turf around my house. With this in mind what do some of the veteran 'wheelers out there suggest from your personal experience? I want grip, but not at the expense of severly short tread life. These tires will see a lot of sharp gravel, sticks, stobs, and all manner of less than ideal conditions. Oh, and stock wheels on it.
