Hay guys...its been a while since I needed to post anything but I am having a issue with my 97 sportsman 500. She will start right up initally and after about 3-5 minutes of warming up it will die out of the blue. I go to start it back up and it wont start no matter how many times I crank it. Let it sit for say ahour or so come back and again it will start running 3-5 min later.....dead....I checked the air intake all clear. I havent looked at anything else yet hoping somebody might be able to point me in the right direction before I start tearing into the thing. Maybe next I will check the plug for fouling??.....any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I would say mabey pull the carb and clean the jets, the pilot always gets clogged the fastest. Also. mabey check the ETC for proper throttle play....1/8" or so. Does it run good if you are on the throttle with it?

check throttle free play for the ETC first...if that is in spec then go to the pilot jet..

just an idear but when it stalls out open the gas cap to see if it has pressure when you take it off. if so the vent lines might be plugged. check the ones on the handle bars as well. just a thought.

Ok I pulled the spark plug that is brand new and it is defiently getting gas..plug is wet...however when I checked for spark I am only getting it every once in awhile? The wire isnt pinched and looks to be ok and like I said it will spark but rarely??? IS this stator related?

Could be bad plug, stator, coil, safety control on throttle check the easy stuff 1st!
Try new plug and adjust throttle 1st.
