Outlaw 90
#1
Has anyone else experienced difficulty in starting their Polaris Outlaw 90? We have a new one and it is very "cold" natured. Once you do get it running, seems to need 10-15 minutes of warm up time. The first few minutes it wants to die a few times as well. Only been able to ride it once or twice for a few minutes due to the weather conditions. Maybe it needs to be broke in? I already changed the plug once as well. Any thoughts?

I just posted a topic that might be related to yours in the "Youth Quad" section. Try loosening your gas cap and see if the starting/running problems go away. I have the same problem on our Polaris Outlaw 90. Ours seems to startup just fine (if it has sit for awhile) but after about 10minutes of running it just dies. It was getting starved of gas and by loosing the gas cap the fuel would flow just fine to the carb. I plan on taking it to the dealer seeing it is under warranty but found it odd that the gas cap wasn't vented.
Thanks

Just got the unit back from the dealer. This is an easy fix. The vent tube is located just below the fill cap on the neck. Take the gas cap off and look (as if you were sitting on the quad) directly in front of you on the neck, you will see a clear tube. It curls under the plastic cover. If you take the four bolts holding the plastic cover over the tank you can get to this clear plastic tube. Chances are it is kinked and not allowing enough air to flow. There is a dealer tech bulletin on this. If I would have know where the vent was located I would have fixed it myself to save time. Hope this helps!

If it is cold(Winter) you should take time to warm up your quad. Some heat up faster than others and the outlaw 90 engine stock is not a high heat producing engine so it will take longer. My scrambler 500 takes about 8-10 min and my outlaw 525 seems to take about the same.

Is this problem with all Outlaw 90's?

No, the hose got kinked during assembly at the manufacturer. I believe that "some" were not routed correctly, only because I have other friends with the same quad with no issues. Just luck of the draw, I guess when I bought it.

well the polaris 90's seem unconsistent, mine is a sportsman 90, it starts up fine, but i can admint it, it's not a good atv, we just got it fixed for a throttle problem, then 2 days ago i was riding it in the cold and my throttle, just froze and wouldn't move, the bolt broke in the throttle assembly.
back to ur problem, umm u could check the choke, and mine is like this in the winter too, in the owners manual it says u shouldn't ride it in conditions colder than 30, i do ne ways but i think it has something to do with the carb, idk alot about it but i've had these problems too

I have not had a major problem with our 90 and a recent magazine article (if someone wants the exact mag and mont PM me) that rated the 90 Polaris best in the shootout. My son is a very aggressive rider and beats the death out of his and has not had a major problem yet! Do me a favor and send speedwerx hot seat performance a message asking to get the 2007 outlaw 90 clutch kit and pipe for spring! But it does take awhile to warm up when it is cold compared to when it was warm out.

The only problem I have had with mine is that the chain tensioner spring broke off. It ran sluggish once and I cleaned it out with a couple wide open laps and that was that. I have sent speedwerx a couple of emails regarding the release of those parts and have got no response.

Fmf has a pipe out for the Outlaw. You can find it on their site. Its 250.00. I have a nice billet end cap I got off ebay. It made the outlet twice the size and only cost 45.00. It really helped out. Looks cool and sounds great.
