Need help

I need help getting the idle adjusted. I cannot find where the screw is. I looked, but I just don't see it. I need to idle it down I think. Right now I have a hard time getting it out of gears. In addition to that, when I'm slowing down it almost sounds like it is knocking because it wants to keep moving. Also, not sure if this is bad or not. I had the thing out tonight and had her revved up pretty good because of the snow being sooo deep. My right leg was hot as heck so I got off and looked. The exhaust pipe was cherry red. Is there something wrong with it? It seems to run fine. The other thing I noticed after running it pretty hard was it seems to have a little whine to it. Not sure if that is just the belt or what? Any help and comments are greatly appreciated!!!

theres a big phillips head screw w/ a spring on the carb that is the idle/ you may have to pull side panels off to see it. sounds like the bike is "creeping" when you are not on the throttle. sometimes the one way EBS bushing wheres out in the primary clucth and causes this to happen. i had an 02' that the belt actuallu shrunk in dia. and did the same thing replaced it w/ a new 700 belt and cured the problem. make sure the radiator is not plugged and the bike isnt over heating. its not uncommon when your running hard to heat the pipe up like that, but just make sure its not running lean when its doing it or you could have a melt down.

I did pull the side panels off. Still couldn't find it. I'll have one of my friends help me with that. Is there a good way to tell if it is running lean or not? I'm not real sure to be honest. Thanks for the help.

if you can see the bottom of the carb then you should be able to see the screw. not sure but i think if you are on the left side siting on it is where you can see to adjust. pull the spark plug out and see if its pure white in color. if it is then its running a little lean. there jetted to run in in warmer weather so it will be a little lean anyways but not to worry too much about it. just make sure its not overheating.

So I had my friend look and we did not see that screw to adjust it. He did notice that there was a vent hose missing. There was a little fuel dripping out of that. Is this normal? Also, can I go to a dealer and pick this item up? Where does it get routed to? Also, I will try and take a picture of my carb to show you that I cannot find that screw. Any other ideas?

unless this has been an on going problem w/ high idle it shouldnt all of a sudden need to be adjusted down. does the bike want to creeep in gear when sitting still or does the belt squeel from not disengaging? just make sure when your trying to find the idle that you dont get the wrong screw and change the fuel setting. it will be the bigger of the 2 screws
