Does the 500 valves need to be adjusted at first service or can you even adjust them i read somewere they have hydralic lifters and they could not and do not need to be adjusted is this true? What else needs to be done when i take it in to be done and when do i take it in to have its first service.I planned on them changing and flushing all of the fluids but is there moore that needs to be done.I would also like to know how much you guys are paying to get this done because my dealer kinda is a crook i think.

You should check the valve lash every 100 hrs.
I'd have all the fluids changed and it greased up good.
I can change all fluids and adjust valves in a couple hrs.
$200-$300 range

That's a pile of money to have someone do some easy maintenance. Your owners manual tells you everything you need to know about changing your own fluids, and if you can't figure it out, we are all here to help.

When you adjust your valves, You don't have to removed the gas tank like the book calls for. There are only 2 blots that are hard to get off. Use a socket like this

and it's easy to adjust. Do the bottom 2 valves at the same time, like the book tells you to, (altho I don't know why)

I had my valves checked at 2200 miles and they were like new. If you have a machine with ADC do not use the Premium demand drive fluid as most of the manuals call for. Use the LT Demand Drive fluid. The Premium is the wrong fluid and will destroy your front diff. Polaris is going to quit selling this. My dealer had to call Polaris to find out that they have a bad fluid out on the market.

Trophy,
Yes, your valves need adjustment. There are screw/locknut adjusters on the rocker arms, one for each valve. You'll find the rocker arms and camshaft under the top engine cover.
The ones on my 500 were only .0001 off spec at the 100 hour mark. If you're going to do work like this, you might think about getting a service manual. If thats something you cannot swing, I could probably take pictures of the pages in my manual and send them to you.
Good luck.
