Default Wont run right!!!!!!!

Hi, I am new...... I have a 2001 scrambler 400 2-stroke and I just replaced the piston and rings. I got everything back together and it will only start if I pour gas directly into the carb. Does anybody know what it could be?

did you hone or bore the cylinder before you replaced the rings and piston? did you check compression to see if you have any? did you hook all the vacume lines back up? just a couple of idears.

You have plenty of gas in the tank?Is the petcock valve hooked up right.Getting gas to the carb?If so take the carb apart and check the needle valve and float.
