any 08 touring owners on here 500 or 800

JMO, I would buy the X2 before buying a touring. The touring models rear seat does not remove , like the x2 and there is no storage behind the passenger seat on the touring. I do not own one, but was at my Polaris dealer looking at them.

Impressions. Very comfortable. Lot's of seat and foot room - roomier than the TRV or Outlander. When riding you don't really notice the person on the back. It doesn't upset the balance of the bike at all. This is still a first impression. I haven't had too much more seat time than plowing. There's so much snow here, I think the trails would be pretty much out of the question.
When I get more seat time I'll do a proper review.

the rear seat is removable, yet there is nothing to take its place when out. i want an 08 800, so the x2 is out of the question.

Ya your right the seat on the touring is meant to stay on. It comes off, but leaves a big hole. If that's a problem for you than the X2 may be a better choice. But there's no comparison for two up riding. If day long comfort passenger comfort is the requirement, I'd go with the Touring.

somebody will come out with something to stick in place of the seat. my problem is my wife likes to ride a couple of times a year, and everyone we ride with has two ups and this past summer they took off on a ride where a two up was a must so we couldn't go. she would ride with me more but we have two little girls so she stays home with them. my other option is to buy a 800 for me and keep the 700 for her and when we ride where you must have a two up she can either ride her own or stay home.

Got the 500efi touring, only got 140miles on it and the ride is great, the rear seat is very comfortable, the rear seat is removable and the dealer told me that polaris is to come out with some kind of a insert to fill the hole. When loocking at buying the difference for me was the comfort between the two rear seats the x2 was not near as comfortable and I was skepticle of to many moving parts would lead to a lot of rattles, and also my wife rides with me all the time so when she's happy I'm happy if you know what I mean...................

After I did a spin with the polaris tour here....I buy a x2 500 2007 deluxe. This spring I want to sold my outlander 650 max to get the X2 touring 500. The polaris 500 touring and regular x2 is more roomy for my leg and you sit a little higher. The overall comfort of the polaris x2 touring is a lot better than my outlander. When I test the x2 and the x2 touring...I was looking for a more working machine than a play machine....after I ride this x2 often and often....I like it a lot and I would go for trail riding with a 500 x2 touring......lot of decent power, very good suspension, handling and turning tight. Comfort for the driver and the passenger....ALL DAY
I never own a POLARIS product since a month BUT NOW I'M getting addict.

We have a 500 Touring. So far 250 miles and I love it. My wife didn't like the feel of the X2 seat so we went with the Touring. I didn't care about losing the bed on the X2. I love the handling even when I'm alone. So far the storage up front has been enough. If I find a nice bag to hang behind the seat I'll buy it to have some extra storage.

I have about 100 miles on my 800 Touring edition. the fiance is always on back when i go riding. I love the way it rides, very comfortable and has plenty of power. Its not as fast as my Can-am was , but i have no problems keeping up with anyone that rides with us. Very stable going up hills and down hills. The only thing the Fiance doesnt like, is when going down hills she cant lean back far enough b/c of the seat back, but thats only on the steepest of downhills. THe ADC works very well, not quite as smooth as the can-ams engine breaking, but probably 2nd best in the industry. I decided NOT to go with a can-am two up for a few reasons.
1. customer service
2. 4x4 system on the polaris is much better
3. engine heat is much less on popo
In the end i am very happy with my decision. Fuel mileage seems to be ok as i have gone over 40 miles on less than half a tank. Not the best mileage, but the big 6gallon tank makes all day rides easily accomplished.
If you NEED a two up bike like i did, then i think its the best choice right now.
