There is no possible way to bump start a Polaris. You can pull it all day long and the clutches will never spin the motor over.

In an emergency take the belt cover off and wrap your belt or a rope around the primary clutch and give it a pull. Just be careful not to get the rope or belt wraped up in the clutch after the engine starts.

That works pretty good in the snowmobile world. On the bike there is no way to get the belt cover back on with it running so the clutch is left spinning at 1500-5000 rpms!! In an emergency ride side saddle and keep your body parts as far away from the clutch as you can. Don't beleive me?? Ask my buddies Dad!! His leg has some new scars!!

I agree, I don't think you can pull start an automatic ATV. Damn hard with a wet clutch or regular one... Normally you just lock up the back tires... THen cuss alot!

Some of the automatic atvs can be bump started. The yamaha, and suzukis can be done, and some of the a/c as well. I know the thread was talking about polaris, but some auto tranny quads can be bump started.

I don't think I would even try it. My buddies quad had a battery that was just about done with. We stopped for a minute and he turned it off and it would not start. We had to yank on the recoil for a long time to get it going. There are times I think I'd like to go back to the semi-automatic clutch setups.

You can't leave a polaris in gear and get it to turn the tires over by pulling or pushing it. If you put it in gear it will just lock and drag back tires. You can get the belt cover back on while the atv is running also. You just have to remove the 4 screws in the floorboard so you can pull out the fender far enough to get it on there. Either way I wouldn't try it and just get the parts fixed causing the problem.
