Default big problem scrambler

is there anyone out there that has ever Hade a problem with a scrambler frame?
I have a 2002 500 2/4 it was a 500 H.O. 2/4 from the factory but now it has the standard 500 engine. I whent off a lil jump made of snow on my quad and landed on the right rear a lilhard and snapped above the right swing arm mount area. it was a smalll 1/2 food jump to maby 2 got the quad 2 feet in the air. I had it welded good weld and riding no jumps it broke. so we grinded all of teh old stuff off and welded it beter then grined it smoth and welded 2 metal plates on for more strenth. That has held up but down by my right foot below the swingarm mount. right were the back of the foot thing. it has a plate reinforcement on the 90 degree angle. that started cracking to now the right rear tire shifts forward and hits the rightside foot gaurd when i hit the throtel i will upload pics later tonight when i get my camera. I am getting it welded this saterday and i hope it doesn't start just breaking down the right side like and ugly pattern. so if anyone has any info on this no matter what year quad or 400 or 500 or 500ho any info is apreaciated thanks

Size: 304.0 KBas you see in the last pick it cracked on both sides of the right side swingarm mount. do you think it will stop after i weld and reanforce it? or will it continue down the line? could a loose engine mount or trans mount be the proble mecause it might tweak the frame under load? any ideas are apreciated thanks.

Of what I am reading on what your scrammy has on it. Looks like you got alot more weight on your machine between the over size tires and winch. It looks like you have been landing with your nose way up in the air.
To stop the crack from spreading. Take and drill a small hole on both ends of the crack. That will help stop the crack from spreading. Then weld it back together. Make sure you have a really clean spot to weld on.
What type of welding are you doing? Stick, mig or torch. If you use a mig, make sure you have argon with it so you can get a clean weld.
that is alot of weight coming down on these welds. Also, where are you located at? Looks like some rust possibly has apart in it.

i have an 03 tb 400 and have had to weld the frame in 4 spots, they are weak because they are square tubed and are known for giving out under great loads.

i've owned polaris atv's since 1990
and consider myself active in polaris
forums I myself have never had a
frame crack or break and can't remember
even hearing about one
(except the above mentioned one),
i'm sure it happens but its new to me
that their known for
"giving out under great loads"
and i think that quote may have just
nailed the problem on the head
hard landings ,big tires, great loads etc..
somthings bound to break

just a thought?

I can't say much. I broke a weld on the support bar thats hold my oil and coolant resavoir on the bottom. For sometime I was wonder where the loud clunking noise was coming from.
I probably did when I flipped mine a few months ago. And it was a hard flip. Ever slung a barbie doll?
