The Truth about renegade?
#1
I was just wondering about this machine. I was wondering from the people who have actually rode this or seen them run on how bad they really are? I know they are wicked fast for a 600 lbs quad, but a guy I talked to at a dealer today claimed he waxed a 450 yfz fully modded, in a drag race. Said by the time the yfz hit fifth he had fifty yards on him. And he would kill my 08 outlaw 525 too. just wanted to know if this was bs and how fast are they really?

I'm assuming your talking about the 800 renegade. They are very fast machines. I would guess the 800 renegade would give the 450 a good race. A lot depends on the track conditions, tuning, traction etc etc. Heck most of the utility machine today are as fast if not faster than the sport quads. I have raced some sports quads back when my 700 was stock and beat a lot of them. Even now with my machine weighing close to 1250 pounds with me on it I can still do the 300' in 5 seconds.

Ya i was talkin about the 800. I just keep hearin lots of stuff that i am sketchy on, another thing is people sayin 100+ outta the box, just seems like alot of bs, i know it is a fast machine though.

we have a demo renegade that the boss man races, i fixed the tire on it, went and rode it and blew the helix out of the secondary doin a wheelie down the road, after i fixed it, i saw 79 out of it, they run really well

The only time I saw a Renny is was up to the floorboards in mud, stuck as hell, and he was by himself. He said it was his first day with it and it looked like it too! Old beat up helmet, and running shoes. We towed him out and then he was gone in a cloud of dust. Sure did pick up speed good!!
I ride with 2 Outlander 800s and both of them haul A$$ too. Great handling bikes and really fast!!

alright, i have spent some seat time on the trails with the renegade. I totaled the frame in 2 hours of riding. i hit a small rock on a landing and it bent the frame on the front where the bash guard is located. i will out gun the ds 650 in a drag and on top end. it will run 83 and bouncing off the rev limiter. on the rough trail you can go fast longer than on a sport quad. on the realy rough trail you will smoke a sport quad. I just got my outlaw 525. i am sure it will out run the renegade in a drag of 300 but will not on top end. I got the 525 to ride in the rough mountian trails, did not want a 700 pound quad when i could still get a sport thats 400 with irs. I hate polaris but had to get it any way, ktm+weight+400lbs. dont aks why i hate po po, it has been stated earlier in the post.

I'd expect the same vulnerable frame design on the 500, and for your info, my 800 Renegade did 74mph, pegged on a black top road oh and that was on a down grade. Don't get me wrong, it's plenty fast enough and has more snot than anything I've ever ridden but beware, that frame is weak and will bend and buckle from relatively small incidents. It's an absolutely awesome quad, until you hit something going faster than 5mph. Rumor has it that they beefed up the frame on the 2008s. Not sure how much truth there is to that though. maybe someone could elaborate on that. Oh and I think the hp on the 500 is rated at 40hp whereas the 800 is rated at 62. Consider the 500 as powerful as most 650 or 700 class machines.
