Just out of boredom I have been jumping from forum to forum reading all the comparisons and arguments on which ATV is better. So without starting a new debate . Here is my question. Polaris Owners, would you buy another Polaris , Yes or No.....I would in a heartbeat, would you?</end quote></div>
Based on what I have experienced so far my answer is a "yes." I like their Scramblers and also think the Sportsman line is good too. I hear positive things about their Trailboss but have never rode one. Can-Am makes an excellent product as well, however: their price makes it difficult for me to pull the trigger on buying one.

I would buy another as they have the best 4wd system going and all of the other features such as integrated storage, etc.
But the major drawback to the Polaris ATVs is the design of their CVT belt drive. The Yamaha Ultramatic and the Arctic Cat Duramatic CVT systems with their belt under constant tension is FAR superior to any system that slips everytime the belt is engaged. Yes that includes Polaris, can am and Kawasaki, as all slip a minute amount when the clutch first engages. Having to stop and use Low all the time is a PAIN. With the constant tension belt setup, you hardly ever have to use low.
Lets hope Polaris adapts this technology to the larger Sportsmans as they have already adapted it to the 2006-2007 Hawkeyes and now for the 2008 Sportsman 300 and 400 HO.
I have owned a Sportsman 600 and now own a Polaris Hawkeye.
If they switch all of their CVTs to this tight belt type then I will buy nothing but Polaris.

Thats what I freak out on, Even our 97 Sportsman 500 which is by the way is the same as a 96 Sp500, Has IRS,selectable 2wd/4wd ,All Disk Brakes,True AWD, Low Range, liquid cooling, 32hp,High ground clearance, long suspension travel and a super smooth ride.
12 Years later you can still find 500 Utilities with less features. If they threw a 1996 Sportsman in a 2008 500 Utility Shootout it would still be in the top 3.

Yes so far, but my sp500ho x2 touring, is new and only has 150miles on, but so far the ride is great and works well, also automatic is super. I would also consider can-am as I think they also have a good machines. Reliability will be the key factor in my next purchase if this sportsman stays reliable it will be hard to switch brands.
