#1
Alright guys is anyone running Mudlite xtr's 27x9x12F and 27x11x12R on factory 08 800 aluminum wheels?
i really like my factory wheels but want to get the Mudlite xtr's, it looks like the fronts will rub some. i dont want to put a spacer on if i can help it but if i have to where do i get one and what kind of offset should i be looking at?
thanks

I've got the same rims and rubber and it'll fit, but it's pretty tight. I put 2 washers behind on each stud for just a little more clearance. I was wrong Sten, I looked the other day and theres like a 1/16" between the tie rod end and the tire. Close but not rubbing.

yea scrammy thats why i didnt want to do that just in case something would get caught between them and do damage. just becareful when trying to put washers behind the rims as you dont have much threads left and can pull them if you tighten them as someone did once. it was an easy choice for me as i just put my whole wheel set on my wifes buggie so i needed the rims anyways and they come premounted and its worth its weight in gold some times.

I just bought a set of Mudzillas, 28x10x12 fronts and 28x12x12 rears on Douglas Rattlesnake wheels and without and spacing there is almost 1/4" clearance on the tie rod end. Still pretty tight, but more room than what I had before. Now I have winter and summer wheels and I'm gonna stud the crap out of my XTRs. I was out on the ice plowing a road to the fish hut on the weekend and glare ice sucks without studs. I'll get some pics of the Zillas when the snow starts to melt.

Coolhand, it's a strength issue when you use spacers. The more threads the lug nut has to grip the stronger the hold. I did tires at a gas station as a kid and guys with mags would come in with stripped lug bolts because they used spacers rather than get the right offset. Stendori has the right idea. Get the right rim with the right setbacks to go with the tires. Trust me though. I understand money being tight.

I wouldn't run the tires if you can't afford to get the spacers due to all the reasons above on stuff getting caught up in there and rubbing and so on. I have wheel spacers all the way around on mine and will put them on every atv I own from here on out. They make the atv so much more stable it's not even funny. My 700 is 51.25" wide with spacers and 27x12 589s on it.

Out here in the East there are often gates at the starts of trails that are 50" or so. We've got to watch the width. I think Polaris hit a homerun when they came out with the RZR and kept it at 50". I wouldn't mind living where there are wider gates or no gates at all. Many of the trails around here have been closed due to construction waste being dumped on trails.
