Default Break in Oil Change

The '07 got its break in oil change yesterday (3 month birthday, I haven't been riding that much). I noticed on the magnet end of the drain plug, there was metal sludge. Is this common? It was quite a bit to wipe off, kind of gooey(I could probably make a nickel out of it). Also, the oil was definitely grey-green. I know the Polaris oil looks kind of green, but should the first change have a grey tint to it? This is my first break in oil change on any ATV so I'm just wondering. The Scrammy runs fine, I just wanted to you if you other riders saw the same thing with yours.... thanks

I bet Stendori knows with all those new toys??? ;-)

Default Break in Oil Change

lets just say ive changed my share of oil. lol. no that is normal what your finding w/ color and slugish. its when you find pieces it not good lol. the new bikes have a clear color oil vs the older green oil. as long as you change it when your supose to it will be fine. most of the time mine isnt that dirty looking compared to the conven, oil vs the full synth. oil.

Brutus, I was going to say the same thing.

I changed the oil on my 800 at 15 hours, and it looked very dirty. At over 40 hours now and the oil looks fairly clean still. Seems that most of my gunk made it out at the first oil change. I'm going to change it again at the 50 hour mark and I should be good to go for the whole summer.

Plus they don't put the best oil in a motor from the factory...

Wheeeew- That's a big relief. Everything seemed fine, but I thought I would ask.

Would you reccomend the 2nd oil change sooner than the regular interval? I'm wondering, it seems like a good idea.

some do it before its time just to feel safer which is fine for sure. my self i do when it reaches the preferef time per the manual after the first change. ive changed 100's of oil changes in vechicals and ive found using synenthic oil it seems to be alot cleaning burning and looking at oil changes and thats what comes in the sportsman. its another big reason i use it in all my engines including lawn tractor. imo
