well my buddies son is selling a 05' troy lee edition pred. for 1500 so he can by his dads truck. im going to buy it and try and resale it later.... only problem with it is , it wont start at first. u pull start it (pop the clutch) and it starts fine, and all day after that. his brother did a new top end on it. i havent messed with it yes, but im thinking maybe spark plug or carb. it just wont start the first time, but after that there's no problem.

 

how about valve clearance .

 

???? u think that would effect how it starts the first time and not any other ? after its been started once, u hit the starter and shee fires right up. im not sure ,ive never messed with a pred.

 

we pulled it 3 foot and started, ive started it about 12 times after that with out a problem. there seems to be some valve chatter...

 

thats a steal, buy it fast, sounds like an easy fix

Little late now, but what you described is the classic symptom of valves needed to be adjusted.

 

no i lost alittle money, but got his trailer... he had a bad a$$ ds but it got tore up so he parted it out. so.. he's been with out a bike for a year and has had alot of personal stuff go on. he's a real good friend andi just wanted him to start riding again, i was hoping to get 2500 out of it ,but i rather have my riding buddy back.

evasiveone.. thanks. he was going to help me fix it anyways. but it does have some valve chatter so , we are going to check the valves...
