Hi all, new to forums, I was told to come here for some help. so here goes..I have a 2002 ac 375 auto with 2598 miles, bought in 03 and have never had to fix anything. I use it for plowing and a few weeks ago I was plowing and when I turned around I suddenly lost all power from motor. It will idle great no problems no misses no colored smoke nothing, but when I hit the throttle it dies, just shuts off. If I put the choke on all the way while I hit the throttle full I can get it moving but then I have to roll the choke off when I get it up to speed and if I power down I either have to put the choke on again or it just dies. Ive tried all I know and now its in the shop and the carb is fine ,coil, cam, internal parts fine, valves were good they said they adjusted them. someone told me it could be the cdi and I was wondering if there was a way to check it? The shop said no and I am going to pick it up today cuz I cant afford to have them not fix it anymore, Ive looked up the cdi and its around 400.00. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it as I am lost without my plow. thanx

I would guess the low speed circuit in the carb is plugged. If it will idle and run fine at speed, the idle and mid circuit are clean. Pull the carb and soak it in carb cleaner for a night and blow it out really well. I think somethings plugged!!

i was going to suggest that as well or a lack of vacume to it.

He says when he gets it rolling he backs off the choke, so I would imagine it's getting enough fuel to run at higher speeds. That's why I was thinking low speed jets, but I've been wrong before

well assuming a shop would know enough to check that which he said it was fine but your right in the way your thinking. thats why i was wondering it it has a weak pump or vacume when idling down low vs more suction on the higher rmps. just a shot in the dark.

Its running way to lean! Thats why when you restrict the air flow, it runs better. If you didn't change any parts in the carb, find th e factory settings and go back to square one.
Check also for a bad vacuum leak, possibly under the base of the carb.

thanx guys, I can only assume the shop went through the carb correct, I know I soaked it all night in my neighbors shop and went through the whole thing with a microscope, as clean as a whistle, the shop tried a new float, new jets, new diaphram plunger, even though I dont think it needed them. well yesterday he shop told me the timing is 10 degrees retarded. not sure what to do from here, they say cdi, everyone else says carb, and I will tell you I believe you guys more then them. I am picking it up monday and putting it in the garage and I will just screw around with it till we get it. I thank you guys and keep posting Im gonna keep checking and I will let you know what happens

I know this highly unlikely, but if you know anyone at all with the same quad or the same cdi, just pull it off and plug it into yours. that is how I did it on my preddy. good luck!
