Went out to crank it, same problem. Slide that rubber boot back and adjusted the cable...TADA~! Worked like a charm, no tools, took about 2 minutes. It's idling about 1200 RPM's does anyone know if this is too high? Regardless, that was Obviously the problem. THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

Hey, anyone know what the desired idle is? I think it may depend on the weather,temp.,etc. Mine is like 1170 (which sounds high to me, but I'm no ATV expert) and still died once when I was going down a hill and giving it no throttle. Appreciate it, and I'll look/ask elsewhere also and post here if I find out.

I have adjusted mine and everything seems fine - until I try to put the little rubber boot back on. The RPMs get all jacked up again and I have to readjust it. Any tips on keeping the cable adjustment adjusted?

That's my word for the day - ADJUSTED

Did you tighten up the locking nut after adjusting? This should keep it from being turned as you put the plastic cover back on.

Check out this website: www.expertvillage.com.

Type Polaris in search area - some good videos from a Polaris mechanic working on a 07 500X2.
