Polaris whining noise? Clutch?
#1
I bought my first Polaris, a 1994 400L 2x4 for a ridiculously cheap price of $400. It runs great but when at mid to full throttle it makes this crazy whining noise, it is louder then the engine!! If I go in reverse it does not make the noise at all. Could this be the clutch? It has a new belt, if that helps...... The guy I bought it off said it has always made that noise. Is this true?

my tires make that noise on teh road but not my clutch i don't reamember it doint that anyway. its been a lil over a year that the 400 was down redoing the trans because i snapped the chain and put it threw the gear case.

Great, Thanks guys for the responses. I stripped it down last night and took the belt off, I started it up, reved it up and it didn't make the noise. You would think if it was the clutch it would make the noise with out the belt off too right? I think I am going to order a new clutch and see if the sound goes away. I will let you guys know what I find out!!
