I found some rope from Warn listed for 9000 lb so maybe it is the wrong diameter for that winch. Sure would be nice to have the rope over the cable.

Makes me wonder if sprinter may be right. Maybe the dealer is looking to resell the rope and make some money. Did you actually read the memo 99explorer?
My dealer tried to tell me there was a charge for the free winch from Polaris, when I showed him the ad from Polaris, he tried to say the price he qouted did not include the $399 price for the winch.....a winch that cost him nothing! Lets just say I found a dealership that didn't pull this type of BS, and got my two quads with free winches.

I got the same thing - I called Polaris on the issue and they told me that ITS UP TO THE DEALERS to decide if they want to give out the free winch or deduct it off the price - so actually you didnt get boned. Polaris doesnt actually give them free winches ...its a promotion they build into thier prices. They get compensated through final selling price not Polaris. I think its stupid too and is a half step away from a scam.

 

I will have the new rope on sunday and will post on tuesday what I find out.

 

I still have not received the new ropr should get it today.

 

I would normally agree that the dealer is just trying to make a buck but they said I could keep the old one.

 

o ok deff keep it and swap it back out when you get home. maby they don't whant to give you the rope on it because they don't whant you comming back to them telling them it snaped. because with the rope you can't use a normal fairlead with the four rollers and you can not wrap it around a tree and hook it on itself like a steel cable you need a tree saver.

 

I got the rope and I can't tell any difference. It seems to be the same diameter and everything. So I just got a free back up rope.
