Hello,

Just picked up my '01 Magnum 325 on the weekend. Had a blast on it but I have a few questions.

I noticed that from time to time when shifting into gear, I heard a bit of a grinding sound. The bike was completely still when shifting. Anyone else have this problem.

Also, I know it is belt drivin, and under certain conditions you can wear out the belt. This weekend I will be towing a few hundred pounds around the farm for awhile(A few hours)..Anything I should know in order to save the belt?

Thanks!

Congrats on your new ride. As for the grinding sound, if the idle is set to high, the gears will grind a little when you put it into gear. The dealers set the idle when its new, but as the engine loosens up, it will idle faster, especially on the 325 engines. When the idle is set too high, the clutch is grabbing the belt a little and causing some movement in the gearbox. My 325 trail boss was doing this. I adjusted the idle down and it stopped doing it. The gears will also loosen up some after the machine gets broke in.

As for towing with a belt drive machine, always use low gear. If you use high gear, you will smoke the belt trying to tow. If you are using low, you should not have any trouble pulling some serious weight.

I have the Magnum and have had the same trouble with shifting, but after having it a year I have had no trouble with it, Although watch out hitting trees with the side of the tire, the rims bend to crap and the swingarm will bend inward, I know this from climb a huge hill. And towing, no problem, you will be supprised at how much it can pull, I use high sometimes and it has not done a thing to the belt, the last things I pulled were rocks approx. 300-700 pounds. I love this quad. And if you need performance parts, hot seat and supertrapp are coming out with things this spring, and don't bother to look until then, there are none.

The one "performance" modification on my 2000 325 4x4 is a Unifilter. I could tell a difference between it and the paper filter.

Unifilter? Cool!

Where can I get one?
