Default Sportsman 500 no power

I am working on a 2005 sportsman 500. I am getting no power to anything when the key it turned on. I do have a good battery and all of the connections are clean and good. This thing has about 80 miles on it it is brand new. I was told that they started it up one day and after a min of running the hot light came on (it did not overheat) and then they turned it off and tried to start it and it was dead. Could this be a ECM? it does not have a the new one. please help and point me in some direction as where to look. thanks in advance.

I'm presently looking at the Polaris parts site. It shows where in the circuit it is but I can't read the symbols. GunSmoke points in the right direction so you might read his reply and it may help.
