I bought a 500 ho scrambler 4x4 last week and I'm trying to figure out the model year. Can anyone help me out on this? Can I run the model number on a site that you know of? It run's great....idle is a little rough. I set up idle, but wants to idle to high when choke it on. Cannot find a happy medium. Carb may need to be rebuilt.
Riding it with the smallest amount of throttle and more, it runs like a scalded dawg!!

 

Dealers can run the vin. If you pm it to me I can run it for you. Also you can look at the tenth digit in the vin and that is the year.

Yes it's a 4-stroke. 500's are 4....400's & 250's are 2.

Also, by the way, yours is not an HO engine.

 

could the ho stuff have been added? I guess that would be the head and the carb?

Really there is no such thing as a 500 Scrambler H.O. The term H.O (high Output)was used when in 2001 Polaris added the Scrambler's high duration cam and larger 40mm carb the the Sportsman 500.

The 500 Scramler was always a H.O from the start.
