I hooked up the fuel line direct from the gas tank (tank is sitting on front rack from doing carb cleaning, ect. So it is running gravity style). It seemed like I could get more RPM's out of it before it would start stuttering and backfiring than I could before. Willput a pump kit in and see if that solves it. Sure hope so, I'm about out of id'rs.

 

sounds like hte fuel was your problem i have known of those fuel pumps putting out around 5 1/2 psi thats alot more than gravity feed. hope it solves it keep us updated.

Adv powersports appears to be right. Iput a pump kit in, doesn't run any different. Any other ideas? I replaced main jet and needle already, is that what you are talking about, or am I missing something?

 

Check the valve adjustment. Mine were too tight when I got it and it backfired after it warmed up. Just a thought.

 

not the main jet the nozzle unscrew the maine jet and push it up thrue u need to replace neddle and nozzle

 

There is an extra valve on Polaris pumps that stop the flow of fuel if the engine is not running. I have seen this stick several times in 17 years of being around Polaris atvs. Only once was it bad enough to replace the pump.
I may be wrong as to the function of this valve, someone else knows more?

i think he said he whent around the pump and right to the carb from the tank so that wouldn't effect it.

 

Check the carb carefully for cracks. I've seen two with cracks to the carb body which made it backfire and miss. One was obvious but the other was really difficult to see unless you looked close.
