07 x2 sportsman spits
#1
Because the stock snorkels don't have a vented cap and their position (right behind the gas tank and under the plastic) any time I splash some water/mud (even going thru as little as 6 inches deep) up it seams to find its way there and gets down on the air filter (had a bunch of mud in the box also) causing it to spit, or in the belt housing causing belt slip. Has anyone else had this problem, and what are some ways to fix it.

There is a pre-cleaner screen over the air filter but the filter is still brown and moister is still getting thru. I was wandering if anyone has adapted a vent cap or some kind of snorkel (clearance is an issue) without having to do alot of mods.

Hey Blued, I have an 06 500X2 and haven't had any of the moisture problems. I'm not sure if there is a difference between the 800 and 500 as far as the snorkel goes for the belt housing. Maybe try a different approach to water/mudholes. A slow steady wake ahead of the quad is better than hitting it at high speed. I would also try the type of foam that is in the air box snorkel. Mine has been pretty good so far.
