Bad Spark

Default Bad Spark

i'm only getting a weak spark if any. most of the time it doesn't even spark. It's not the spark plug, already replaced it. need some help guys.

no, i didn't change it. you mean the wire from the coil to the spark plug right?

yes might be it would be a start if not maybe the stator,or regulator rectifior has gone bad just sum sug.

how do you access the where the stator is. i know its near the flywheel.

its going to be located behind the engine cover opposite the clutch side im not sure witch side they have the clutch on im guessing it going to be on the right side but it will be the opposite side of the clutch,also the regulator is the small black box close to the battery.it wil plug in to the stator

how would i check and see if it is the stator causing the problem?

The Sportsman 500 - the most common cause of the weak spark, lack of spark symptoms you are describing is the pulsing coil located by the flywheel.

Test procedures can be done to determine the exact problem, but they are different for an HO and non HO model - so it would help to know what year model you have.

mine is a 2000, which isn't an HO
