Default Temp gauge.

I`m going to install a temp gauge on my 07 SP 800. Bought the wrong type gauge. Got a mecanical one. My question are then, where do I mount the sending unit???

Get a Tee and put it into the upper radiator hose.

You see the size of the sending unit? Would do that if it was a electric one.

on my electrical one i put it in the theromstat housing but i dont know where you would put that one unless you make special fitting for it to put in the hose.

On my 700 I put the sender in the termostat housing. But this sender are 5 times bigger. The problem is that here in Norway no one sells the 1.5" gauges so I had to order them from US. When I finally found the ones I liked it was mecanical. Don`t like the look of the meters that others sell. Looks like cheap plastic. This one looks good and blends nice in beside the speedo.

I used to have the tees made for the mechanical gauges and sell them, but I don't have anymore. I will post pictures when I get home.

Ok. The one I got who fits the upper hose is not big enough for the sender.

hi, that manual sending unit is for a car! thats why its so big so it fits way inside the engines head.the sender for your bikes warning light is open--close to turn light on+off,if you can ask the dealer if they have a sender for a guage which is variable, all things being equal as far as coolant temp is concerned,i would imagine you can use a nicer auto electrical guage from a car cause "autoguage"makes alot of nice guages. with the elect sender that fit.hope this helps you.

I know it`s for car use. Problem with the use of a "normal" gauge is that it`s 2" and then it don`t fit in the pod next to my speedo. I don`t have any more room on my handlebars for a "normal" size gauge becouse other equipment mounted there. As I said all the other gauges I`ve seen looks like cheap plastic. (in 1.5" size)
