Help with chosing a new bike
#1
Guys I have an uncle who called me from cali and he's looking to buy his first bike. He found a Polaris dealer selling 2007 700's for $5900. I'm a Grizzly man myself and highly recomended the 660 to him but for the price on the 700 I'm not sure I could pass it up either.
Can anyone give me some reasons why you think he should or should not get the 700 besides price.
The type of use will be work / play, no muddin, open trails not much woods, maybe some beach driving.

That price is a steal. The Sportsman has one of the best rides out there, comfort-wise. The AWD system is great and easy to use. I've climbed over everything I've tried so far. It may be heavier than the 660 Grizz but heavy also helps traction. I think it has about a 1200 lb. pull capacity. I've pulled an industrial wood chipper with my 500 in a pinch when our trucks lost traction going up a wet grass hill. It weighed well over a ton. Short distance, but it pulled it uphill.

For ride and utility go with the Polaris. For the best auto clutching system and far less worries about the belt and when to use low gear, go with the Grizz.

right now it seems that everyone is in love with the Grizzly with it's power steering but there isn't all that much difference to the SP700 and for that price he would be foolish to pass it up! Although the 700 is a discontinued model, it has a good history for rock solid performance and dependability, and will probably be a bit better in the work category while being every bite as good at play...the Grizzly will be a bit more to the sporty side though with it's lighter weight
Given the circumstances you presented, the 700 would already be on my trailer!
