I have an 04 predator 500. It is still like new with only several hours on the engine. I've started it and rode it several times a year and this year it has a problem. It starts like normal when choked and will idle strong until choke is off and all seems normal. then it just dies and won't restart, if it does start it will continue to die. What can i try before I take it in and have it fixed.

Have you consulted your owners manual? There is a troubleshooting section in the back and I think it covers that...

 

OK, after removing the aircleaner and checking the throttle function and ETC, plug gap and condition, as suspected all was like new. I then check to see that the petcock was opening correctly and then realized my kids stole my gas. Duh.... the last time I started I had the same problem... and put a full tank of gas so I didnt check that. Do they make locking gas caps for these things? lol....

 

LMAO! Boy, you know the fuel prices are high when your kids are stealing your gas! LOL! Well, it's an easy fix then!

 

LOL, do not feel bad. That is like the 5th time I have heard of "engine problems" on here that were solved by adding fuel.
