SuperTrapp muffler on the Hawkeye
#1
I've finished installing a SuperTrapp muffler on my '07 Hawkeye. Many thanks to Ron...sorry I've forgot your username on here. He was a big help to me. It has made the quad more "eager" to rev from what I can tell just riding it around the neighborhood. Between it and the DynoJet kit, drilling the slide, and removing two rollers from the drive clutch it is a MUCH improved quad!
Here's a couple of pic's.

Hey 00XJ,
This is Maddog24 and that Muffler looks good on the Hawkeye, I also have 07 Hawkeye 300 and i am looking at putting the same muffler on my bike. Now that see that it will fit & work i think i will order one now. Can you show me a picture of how it fits up to the header pipe, and what kind of bracket did you make to bolt it to the frame and to the muffler. I also did the Dynojet Ket, Drilled the Carb Slide and put a UNI Air Fliter on, I ended up having to take 2 of the rubber plugs out of the Air Box to get my bike to run the best after the 3 Mods i did, it's a lot quiker now on the take off.
What kind and what size tires do you have on the Haweye??
Thanks Maddog24 (Jeff)

Maddog24,
The IDSX muffler is the one for a Sportsman 800. The 800 exits on the right side so that is why the label is on the inside. Just alittle FYI. The headpipe gasket apparently is the same one they use on the 800, so fitting it up is no problem. The SuperTrapp even comes with new retaining springs. I used a piece of angle iron, and bolted it to the frame rail using the factory holes for the muffler. I used a piece of flat stock to bolt to the T-bolts that come with the muffler, and another piece of flat stock and welded it to the angle iron and the piece bolted to the muffler. Really pretty simple. I'd take some pics of it but I'd hate to have to take the rear body work off again.
For even "quicker" acceleration try removing two rollers from the drive clutch. Again very simple mod. I have 23" Swamp Fox tires on the quad.
Hawkman300,
I live in Indianapolis, and the elevation here is somewhere around 800'. I can't see there being much of a difference between sea level, and 800', but I'm no expert. All the mods I've done have helped some, and none were difficult to do. The Hawkeye is no sport quad, but all the mods together have made it a much better preformer IMO.
I bought the SuperTrapp from onestopmoto.com. Best price I was able to find. It was $302 which included shipping. Still alot for a muffler, but they ALL are pretty salty. 'Ya wanta play, 'ya gotta pay I guess.
The muffler is not much louder than stock with 10 discs in it, but it does give the quad a more "throaty" sound. All in all I'm totally happy with it.

Never had a problem with swamp fox. I've had a set on mine for about 6 months now. Excellent tire.

Never had a problem with the Swamp Fox tires I have. They've been on the quad since last fall.
I'm not sure the headpipe is the same on an '06 since the '06 had a different style factory muffler. Might be smart to check with a dealer before ordering the SuperTrapp. I would recommend the IDSX to anyone with a Hawkeye wanting a little more "grunt" out of it. Sounds kinda nice too.
