I have a new 08 Sportsman just breaking in and it's making a whirring noise when I slow down. Is this normal? Thanks--I'm a new guy.

This is due to the u-Joint/belt/engine braking drive system and is compleetly normal for a Polaris. Don't be suprised if you get some clanking noises as well!!!!!

Seems like mine quieted down a bit after some use, but they all make some noise....with all the moving parts and ebs/adc, etc. Some are much louder than popo's, though.

My new 500 HO does this too - I didn't think the 500 HO had EBS - Specs on-line say it's optional and I don't have an EBS sticker on the belt cover. The sound that mine makes is the same as a friends 500 EFI. How can you tell if it is EBS equipted?

Mine says EBS on the cover of the belt. The whine could just be belt noise I suppose...

You will know when you are going down a steep hill and the machine will pretty much stop itself!

the bike will almost free wheel once the clutch disenagges w/ non ebs clutch but the belt is still turning which does make a whinning sound at least on our 450 it did.
