new XTR's
#11
rtickwad, i am not sure about the xtr's i was comparing the 589 with the mudlite xl's i am not sure how they would compare to xtr's i guess the main reason i thought they were better was what i could do that he couldn't, how much i was getting through that he was getting stuck in, or wasn't able to back out of. noting too technical just my opinion.

the 589's are really good inthe mud w/ thier lug design for the cleaning of the tread. the xtr's are real good handling tire because of the radial design. ive never had the XL's and only had the AT's for mud lites but have seen a 500 w/ the xl's and it went fairly well in the mud. there is like $110.00 difference in price between the xtr's and the reg. mud lites for the same size. as far as my xtr 27" tires bottoming out, was on my 06' 800 and if i hit a hard bump the rear supenion would compress enough for them to rub on the top of the under side or the fenders. their is plenty of clearance other wise. maybe if youy carry alot of weight and hit hard enough w/ your 28" you'll see what i mean. i plan on getting the ss106 rims w/ mudlite xl's for the wifes 400 when i stop ordering parts for my truck lol.

Ahhh, I hear ya, yes it is nice to have
new. Shame to say my new truck was when
it was a 1997 Ford Ranger (totalled). My Tundra PU was
bought used. When the wife goes back to
work this year (hopefully) hope that will bring
some new vehciles since 2001. I think the wife
will win the Tug&War on that one though...8-)
I guess my 08' 800 toy will just have to make
up for all of that, LOL!
Enjoy!
